Spring has arrived: action is heating up on area waters, weeknighters just a few weeks away. |

With the unusually warm April weather, action is heating up on area waters with big bags being had everywhere especially on Maggies. This last weekend at the firts Bass Anglers United, first place was 14.44 pounds of largemouth with a 3.85 pounder as big bass. Other events have had 15 pound sacks from the river and reports of multiple 4-5 pound bass from Tippy have been coming in. This could shape up to be one of our best seasons ever despite record high gas prices.
Speaking of high gas prices, many of you have been calling and emailing me as to the whereabouts of the classic. While we have not decided on a lake yet, rest assured that if the gas continues to climb, we may look at having the event a little closer to home to offset the cost. My wish would be to go Chataqua in New York as it proved itself to be one of the best mixed bag fisheries I have ever been on in the North but I don't want to make people spend that much money on fuel. Maybe next year. Initial destination possibilities included Mullet, Skegmog, Lelanau, and Houghton. Subsequent suggestions have included Hamlin, St. Joe River, and Hardy Dam. I will do my best to pick a body of water that will be fun to fish. Please visit the forum to post comments on the classic destination or email me.
I will be printing schedules and dropping them off at Lunkers next week (first week in May). If you want one emailed to you, just drop me an email and I will send you the schedule and membership form. We have not changed the format again this year with entry fees being 40 and 25 per team membership. Remember, the membership fee goes to fund this website, permit fees, and classic fund. Please arrive early to the first event as we always have a lot of paperwork to go through the first night and go easy on us.
I have also had several people ask me to post things for sale. I am considering making a separate page for this. Email me things you have for sale and I will post them for you.
2008 Schedule and Classic Dates Set!!!!!!
With the change in the Michigan DNR permitting process, we were able to apply for our permits on 11/1. After reviewing the schedules of BBT, BFL, and Mickey's BASS, it looks like the best weekend for our 2008 Classic will be September 20 & 21st. Paul, Jeff, Mickey and I are discussing several lake options for the Classic and will come up with a decision soon. As always, comments either emailed or on the forum will be appreciated.
2008 Season to add 2nd chance event. This coming season we will be adding a 2nd chance wildcard event that will be on August 23 for all the teams that did not make the classic. It will be an 8 hour event with the normal $40 entry. Teams must have fished 10 of the 12 events in a single division to be eligible. No Subs, the top 3 teams will advance to the Classic. Lake to be announced. More info later on this.
