2010 Season

2010 Format Changed
After talking with many members and deliberating too long, we have decided to make some changes to the format of our circuit. For 2010 MWTS will feature a 10 event schedule rather than the traditional 12 weeks. Over the past years we have noticed a decline in the amount of participation for the last few events. Shortening the season should ease the end of the season burnout feeling. It will also let us move the classic date up. I struggle every year putting the classic on the prime weekend end of September/beginning of October. This time slot is always jammed with every club and circuit's classic. Moving up should allow us to have a better shot at good weather as well. To help compensate with the fewer events, the weekly entry will move to $45 per team including big bass. This will allow for miniumal impact on the classic fund. Schedules are posted on the schedule page. Thank you for supporting our circuit.
Tentative classic date is weekend of September 18-19
We will also be holding a couple of weekend events with different formats this year that will not be points events. We will have an event similar to the Big Bass events held down south and on the grand river where there will be hourly weigh ins for big bass each hour. Tentative plans puts this on the river at Maggies during the warm months.

2009 Deka Classic Record
40 pounds!!!!!
After 2 wonderful days of fishing, Hurtle and Smith stand atop the field with a record catch of 40.04 pounds. What is more amazing is that they did not have any fish over 5 pounds and on day 2 had a 14 1/2 incher in the sack. All footballs I guess. 2nd goes to Rusty Robinson and Frankie Adams with 32.84 and 3rd was Mickey and I with 32.08. Big bass Day 1 was a 4.97 caught by Fletchers and Day 2 was Nelson and Chodzinski with a 5.01 pound smallie. While Torch gave up the winning sack, Elk and Skegemog gave up the numbers accounting for most of the top 10. Full results on the Tuesday standings tab.
We would like to extend our sincere thank you to the Torch River Resort and the Torch River Marine for the wonderful hospitality they have shown us for two years now. Any chance we get, please let them know we appreciate them and try to get your clubs to go and stay there when possible. Also, congratulations to Kyle Anderson of Rapid City, MI who caught the new state record Musky Sept. 29th. While we were busy catching 3 and 4 pound smallmouth, he managed to catch a 50 pound musky on Torch Lake.
